Nervous system for the ruburbs
Aerial shots show an island— a site where I’m building a local nervous system for the ruburbs (rural suburbs). Completed are studies for the visual sense (
atta presence sensitive). I’m now working on
auditory + visual, connecting the two using a combination of off the shelf and hand built devices that see, sense something, emit a call, and collect a response. Later, smell and touch will be addressed.
Elements of the nervous system include remote sensing of different types, networking from field to computer, and interplay of devices and events. It will augment one’s perception of flora, fauna, and other elements in the landscape.
